EVENTS AND MEDIA
Soil Kitchen-Twin Cities
In 2015, we initiated "Soil Kitchen" events in the Twin Cities Metropolitan Area. Screening for soil properties and heavy metals (Pb and As) are completed on-site with results and interpretations provided to participants. From 2015 to 2019, we conducted 11 events, screened over 400 soil samples and engaged in over 1200 conversations and community contacts around soil management, soil health and soil management. These events occurred in collaboration with Gardening Matters (Minneapolis), Frogtown Farm (St Paul), UFGA (St Paul), Northern Spark (Minneapolis), and Open Streets (Minneapolis).
Ad-Hoc Soil Investigations
We regularly connect with land managers across the state of Minnesota to conduct ad-hoc soil investigations in order to solve problems or increase knowledge of soils and landscapes. These ad-hoc soil investigations can be tied to classes and research in order to build long-standing, reciprocal relationships.
